ENCHANTMENT IN FARMINGTON
Farmington, McGee Park and surrounding areas provided a great place to have the Region VII, CO, NM & UT State rally. One of HRRVC’s goals is to become more familiar with the communities of our great country. Farmington certainly held up to expectations. Everyone in attendance will not soon forget this special time.
Farmington has it all: friendly people, diversified museums, world class ruins, Native American culture, mining rescue, outstanding performers, ceramic painting, basket weaving, tours, beautiful landscapes, three converging rivers, wineries and terrific food. Fun and educational experiences provided a circle of exposure.
Thank you, Farmington!

2010 SANGRE DE CRISTO MOUNTAIN ROUNDUP
Sometimes you only have the hope that something will turn out well. You base your decisions on the love you have for an area of your home state thinking surely others will love it, too. But, it is still based on hope. You explore, research, visit prospective locations, interview key people and then finally make a decision. This time our decision was made in short order after finding the perfect campground and more importantly, the perfect hosts. We quickly bonded with Bruce and Bridgette Manakas after spending a lovely afternoon with them in January. It simply felt right. Their offerings and cooperative spirit made our decision to have the NM State Rally at Golden Eagle RV Park in Eagle Nest, NM an easy one. Still you wonder, will everything work for the attendees. We are happy to say from all the happy faces we saw and the comments we received during our rally, the Sangre de Cristo Mountain Roundup was a success. It goes without saying, all would not have been so grand had it not have been for the perfect location and the wonderful attendees.
A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL!!

2009 NM STATE RALLY MEMORIES
DEMING, NEW MEXICO WOWS HOLIDAY RAMBLERS
It’s true! Great things come in small packages. The New Mexico Holiday Rambler State Rally under the leadership of State Manager and Associate, Bill and Rossanna Hays, proved a small community is in no way a limitation to great rallies. Everyone knew they were in for some good times when Mayor Andres Z. Silva personally and warmly welcomed the attendees at the Opening Ceremonies with “Bienvenidos.” This was further enhanced when the National Anthem was sung outstandingly by the Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce, Cyndi Longoria. The “Tales n’ Trails” theme was frequently underlined by the many events to follow. The first night was spent at the rustic, historic 100 year old Adobe Deli restaurant originally a remote adobe school house which served the early settlers. Following the meal, some of which were served on a sword-like skewer, a movie was shown on a giant screen. Entitled “In Place Out of Time,” the movie illustrated the large number of ancient petroglyphs in New Mexico and its photographic preservation by 65 year old Embree “Sonny” Hale who took it upon himself to capture and preserve the memory of these ancient inscriptions.
The 2009 State Rally included a luncheon tour of the Luna Rossa Winery, a visit to Palomas, Mexico, Book Exchange, an Avon Make-up Session, a seminar by Steer Safe (well known by RVers), artist Ralph Graves’ woodcarving seminar, Sally Graves’ Scrapbook and Rose arts and crafts, the United States Border Patrol briefing on its 85th anniversary, a First Aid briefing by EMT specialist from the Deming Fire Department, and a Mexican Fiesta with the award winning Mariachi Corazon del Desierto, just to mention a few.
The highlight of several, was the All Day Historical Celebration of Luna County at the Luna Mimbres Museum and Customs House. The Museum has rightly been called the “Smithsonian of the Southwest.” This extraordinary museum, totally supported by volunteers, provided a full day of fascination. A noon sack lunch in the patio of the Customs House on a sunny warm day allowed rest before returning to complete the tour. The docents of the museum hosted the Ramblers in the central rooms for an elegant meal themed “Some Enchanted Evening.” And, it was enchanted. Each guest was escorted to elegant Halloween themed tables by maître d’s as dinner music was performed by professional Max Crook at the keyboards (a pioneer of electonic music in pop, he probably remains best known for his 1961 hit “Runaway” with Del Shannon.). The delectable meal was served with synchronized grace by the docents. You wondered if you were at the White House! At the conclusion of the meal and following appropriate acknowledgments, “enchanted” Ramblers were treated to outstanding entertainment. Soloists Cyndy Longoria, Bob Delt and Max Crook presented music from musical comedy, classic western and the popular media. At the conclusion, with hardly a dry eye, the Ramblers gave a standing ovation to the whole of the evening. It was truly “Enchanted.”
